Batman: Arkham Origins’ Mobile - Is It All That Bad?

Warner Brothers and NetherRealm introduced us to a new superhero action Batman mobile game for iOS users that is taking a lot of bad reviews. If you want to download a game it’s completely free, but once you get an appetite to equip some new gadgets and moves, that’s where things get a little tricky. The controls overall are performing very well and we can give them props to that, but there is a small problem with a stamina bar being too quick to drain and too slow to refill which pressures players who want to play without any interruptions, to spend real money so that they could avoid the long wait of stamina bar refilling back up.

Hmm…let’s think about it again.

Look, it’s not all that bad. Batman Arkham Origins Mobile (free) has amazing moments while taking down criminals and enemies throughout the city. It is quite fulfilling eliminating the bad guys while unlashing all the rage you have, in the name of justice. It’s really hard to miss the action while the controls are very responsive, and you won’t have issues with that, but we do want to focus on why this game has such a bad rating.

Because of its fitting sound effects, hits do have nice feeling of force but if we focus on strategy, we are not left with much except blocking when the enemy forces special move on you. While playing, you will unlock range of special moves, but some will require a payment - spending real money, which is very limiting to a combat. And the thing is you will need to make more special moves depending on a style of the opponent. The battle system is pretty straight forward and developers didn’t really make much room for depth, but at least it’s good enough.

It’s a pity that even if you do invest real money in the game, you will still be left fighting the same bad guys over and over again and it really doesn’t offer much variety in action. So, basically you will blow money on Batman’s new move sets and gadgets which are exciting for a little while but start to get old pretty soon and you’re left with hammering mass quantities of thugs again and again just so you could level up your Batman.

You can do all that and not pay a dime if you’re in a mood for collecting his special abilities, gadgets and suits, but beware, it gets really uninteresting after 15 minutes, so one option is to play it for 15 minutes and then take a break. It’s disappointing how Batman: Arkham Origins had so much potential. Simply leaves you wanting more unless you purchase more stamina with Waynetech points.

A little about the story:

Story wise, the game is quite alike to the basic plot of Batman games. In this case scenario, Black Mask is in the city, and Batman’s mission is to take him down. To do that you must beat up enough bad guys, so the boss battle is triggered, and you can knock Black Mask down. Also, you can find mini games in the main game, so you could give them a go and fight your way through different areas of Gotham.

To sum everything up!

This game leaves you wanting more than the developer intended to give you unless you invest real money in it. So, if you decide you want great stamina, time, power-ups and suits, prepare yourself to spend on in-app purchases, unless you want to drag your gameplay for killing time.

It’s a solid, amusing and free to play Batman mobile game for everyone that wants some action with limitations. Overall, it’s not all that bad, but a few things could get improved.
